WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING?

Have you ever asked yourself this question?

Well, I have.

And the truth is, I never come up with the correct or final or definite answer. Every day I have a different reason as to why I wake up 5a.m in the morning, well not 5a.m but that's what my alarm will tell you, especially in this cold weather😂.

School Life

When I was younger, I thought working hard in school and getting good grades for my parents to be proud of me was what kept me going. So I would study late into the night when my sister barely lasted 20 minutes on the study table before she started dozing off. I would be the one to turn off the lights as everybody else would sleep before me. And come morning, I would be the first to rise. At least my efforts did bear fruits, and I ended up performing well till I got to campus life.

Campus Life

Now, we all know how priorities shift while at this stage of life, right?🌚. Being free from your moms, "Where are you going? Who are you with? Why are you late? Don't wear that in my house?" Let's not even talk about the dad's strict rules😤. WHAT KEPT ME GOING was the need to feel I fit in. The fashion trends, going out every weekend to have something to talk about through the week, living in cool environments to show off to your friends, having a cute boyfriend.......all that drama. Barely worried about missing lectures when I have a phone to take pictures of notes from Ann or Joyce, the always present students. It was just living to the fullest with less care about tomorrow.

Work-Life.

Do I wake up every morning for an 8 to 5 job just because I will get paid at the end of the month? Well, maybe, but not truly. At least, I used to tell myself so when I started as an intern. To finally be independent, pay my bills like the big girl I am. But as months keep passing by, I realise that's not the only thing that keeps me going. Is it to buy my dream BMW M235i someday? Of course!!🥳 I mean, I have to work with a vision, right? To travel all over the world and take pictures for my exes to see how well I did without them..😆...*jokes*

or rather to make my dad proud of me? For him to keep boasting to his friends am his daughter..his child..cz when you do well in African homes, you are your dads' child.

Marriage Life

Or its for marriage? Does the thought of having kids of my own running around the house almost making me lose my wits in fear of them getting hit or falling entice me? Being with a man, I can finally say, till death do us part, by my side?... I recently attended a wedding, and seeing the joy of the couple made me wonder, is that what keeps me going? The day I will walk down the aisle for everyone to glare in joy at my beauty in an off-the-shoulder white wedding dress, barely missing the moment with phones out to take the pictures...my pictures.

Finally

Honestly, it could be all these reasons, maybe one of them or none. We are growing and evolving and discovering new things each day. Someday it will all make sense. But for now, I will let myself flow and savour each moment I get, for tomorrow is unknown.
